Horse Shoe Nail Award
Each year at least one staff show volunteer receives recognition for their outstanding service – someone who goes “above and beyond” during the current VA State Show. Nominations are made by the approximate 125 staff show volunteers. A poem describes this volunteer’s importance to our show:
For want of a nail, the shoe was lost.
For want of a shoe, the horse was lost.
For want of a horse, the rider was lost.
For want of a rider, the battle was lost.
For want of a battle, the kingdom was lost,
And all for the want of a horseshoe nail!

Connie Collier Scholarship
Each year applications are received for the Connie Collier Scholarship for post-secondary education in loving memory of long time State 4-H Horse Show Volunteer, Connie Collier. The scholarship serves to provide monies to youth who have been members of the 4-H Horse Program to attend college.

Leg Up Award
Each year nominations are accepted for the Leg Up Award. It is given annually to a 4-Her in the Horse Program that exemplifies 4-H qualities, including "Making the Best Better" and volunteerism.
